How to get a car title?

I bought a car from somebody a few months ago and when buying the the car the seller said the title is is their name but it is registered in the state of Texas. Because the seller said they can get the title quick we took the car home. The seller seem to try getting the title for a few weeks but all of a sudden quit answering my calls and kinda seem to be avoiding them too. I know I got the bad end of the deal but I am kinda stuck with a car right now that I have no title to and was wondering if their are any alternative ways of going about getting a title. Thanks.

NEVER BUY A USED CAR WITHOUT GETTING THE TITLE!!!! How did you register it? This car could be stolen. Best recourse is to get law enforcement involved.

You just got chumped big time. Probably has a lien on the vehicle or worse(stolen). Never buy a car without the paperwork. Good luck.

. Have a sherriff do a vin inspection and you can get a title. but ..... If its stolen you will lose it.

You better get the law involved, if you get pulled over first and they find out you don't have a title to your vehicle... it can mean loss of license and probation, investigation, and possibly jail. But not that likely.
