Is there a vehicle transfer in Texas?

What documents do I need to sell my vehicle with a lien on it?

  • The buyer wants a document to confirm that he will be the owner. As soon as the buyer pays for our vehicle, we will pay off our lien and the title will be sent to us. Is there any documents that can hold up in court so he knows we won't take the vehicle back and say it was stolen when the title arrives? Our title is in Tennessee and the buyer is in Texas, which where we are residing right now. Tx doesn't reconize a notorized bill of sale anymore so are there any more documents that will transfer ownership to him before the title arrives? Pleas help we need to sell our truck fast!!!

  • Answer:

Can't transfer title until the lien is cleared. Sell him the truck, and sign and give him a notarized letter that you will send him the cleared title once you pay off the lien.

legally you cant sell it anyway, give the buyer a notarized bill of sale and writh a letter and you both sign it agreeing to sign the title to the new owner is the best you can do, it will not hold up in court, but then you are planning to give him the vehicle ,so its a matter of how long it takes to get the title back to you and then to him.there is nothing legal you can do, hope he coughs up the money, since he has the vehile too?
