What is a good SUV for mileage and cargo space?

  • I recently drove a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer to the bitter end of it's life, with 210k on it. I'm looking for a new SUV mainly because I like the cargo space and handling compared to a minivan. I already have a full size cargo van, so I'm looking for a similar SUV to the blazer. Whats the best SUV for mileage and cargo space? Doesn't have to be 4x4.

Nabisko, I would recommend the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The wheelbase is 112.50 inches and the overall length is 187.80 inches. The cargo volume behind the 1st row seat is 63.7 cu. ft. It is 31.4 cu. Acura MDX or Toyota 4Runner.

the ford escape is a good car it is great on gas and it has a fair amount of space. a better car would be a toyota rav 4 its about the same on gas but its a better quality car and much more reliable. there are a few new cars out by gm that have good gas mielage but this is the first year of these cars that they redesigned so i dont know the reliability or how they are but the two cars are the gmc terrain and the chevy equinox they are basically the same car. they get good gas mileage too. if you are looking to buy used i would suggest the toyota rav 4.

Ford Escape gets good mileage and is very reliable.
