How To Meet New Friends Online?

Any ideas on how to make new friends and meet new people at the age of 23? Need some advice, I'm going insane!?

  • First of all, please do not say "Facebook" as I am not signed up to FB. Basically, I have started to drift away from my old friends and now I don't really have many friends at all. I rarely socialise at the weekends and because I'm single, it's kind of depressing for me to be sitting at home on a Friday/Saturday when I should be "out there" living life. I have a friend who goes out on a regular basis, but he is immature (he's same age as me) and I he kind of irritates me. He also isn't very good with girls, so he isn't the best "wingman" when it comes to chatting to women. I find it hard to meet new people/friends now as a young adult, just because I've already passed the times of my life that were best to make friends, I.e. At school, college etc, but I didn't go to University, which I could always try and do. Here I am on a Friday night, sat on the internet asking for advice on how to make friends lol, not the best way to spend a Friday night, not by a long shot. Anyway, do you reckon you could lend me some advice? Please!

  • Answer:

go out and hang out. go to the mall and talk to people who you think are your age and start to talk to them.

I'm sometimes in the same situation as you, so I understand what you feel. I can't always count on my friends cause many of them are in a relationship or have other friends and activities. So those are the moments that I don't know what to do and I get kind of depressed too. As you can see I'm not the right person to give you advice, but I know that the only way of making new friends is doing something, not staying at home. You should take up an activity, a sport, or classes of something that interests you. And don't waste any invitation that people make you.. well hope you get better with it!

Go to meetup.com. It's free. You can pick from a variety of activities which interest you. You will meetup with others also interested to chat and do stuff. It's a great low-pressure way to meet new people. People keep joining and will invite you to other stuff like parties, drinks, etc Have fun!!!

Why not try going to a singles bar. There you meet people such as yourself and it won't be awkward if you go by yourself. Search online for your nearest one.

If you have any hobbies, personal likes about some activity, join a group/club/organization that specializes or focuses on this activity. Enjoy photography, join a group of photographers. Like to ski, join a ski club. You get what we're talking about here, join with others who enjoy the same type of things you enjoy. That gives you a legitimate basis for asking them questions. My best friend I met in a sporting goods store while he was looking at a catalog. We got to talking and have been friends for 50 years. Over time we discovered we shared other common interests. If you don't have some particular activity, take up one. Become involved in life.

Hi there :) dont worry im exactly the same! Im def not a social person :) Ways to meet new friends is possibly if you can try to get a new job, one that involves being with people.. like in an office or shop. If not maybe try taking a course, you'll meet new people there as well as learning new skills :) Or maybe try joining a club in your local area? Such as a photography or book club? Or perhaps just get one of your friends to bring a few of their friends along and all go out together? Good luck!
