What areas of digital media do you think women are underrepresented in?

What kind of question could I ask for this sociology assignment?

• We are supposed to come up with a research question, but everything I've suggested doesn't work for this. We were thinking something along the lines of "Are women underrepresented in comedy shows?" Can you help me think of any good ones? These are the assignment guidelines for what we are supposed to be doing. Option B: Race and Gender Demographics in Media Select two different types of television programming to compare (e.g. evening news vs. morning news, channel 7 vs. channel 5). You may select any type of programming on any channel, except for sporting events, talk shows, or animation that does not feature human beings. Analyze the demographic characteristics of at least 5 television shows from each of the two groups. 1. Record the race and sex of each of the main characters in the 5 shows. 2. Create a chart/graph/table showing the percentage of each racial group and sex for each category and for the 10 shows combined. 3. Visit the U.S. Census Bureau’s website (www.census.gov) to obtain data on the nation. You may also want to find local data if applicable. Compare your findings to the demographics of the nation and/or regions (be sure to include the U.S. data in your table/graph/chart). Which groups are represented accurately? Which groups are underrepresented? Overrepresented? 4. Create a poster to present the results and conclusions that can be drawn from your study. Be sure to include the following: your research question, a chart/table/graph of your results, some limitations of your research, and any relevant connections to outside sources or class material and APA style cites & references (you can put references on the back of the poster).

  I guess that question could work if you are going to come to the conclusion that they aren't underrepresented in comedy shows. Well that's my opinion I guess, doing your research though you are sure to find different opinions, facts, statistics etc. I think that question could be fun because it's about comedy shows and you can definitely get some humor out of that obviously lol. If possible instead of making a poster make a small power point so your presentation isn't boring to listen to. Good Luck!
