Do i have OCD or something?

I keep having OCD-related thoughts about something?

  • I had gone through the drive-thru at a Starbucks Coffee location that near where I live, about 7-8 days ago. I kept getting an OCD-related thought afterwards, that: "When I had kept my car window open, as I had gone through the drive-thru, did any money, specifically cash, accidentally come out my car, and land on the ground outside in the drive-thru area?". So then, I had directly emailed the Starbucks Coffee company, via their online website, for them to find out, whether or not any cash had been found from outside in the drive-thru area at that Starbucks Coffee location, and had been turned in to one of the workers over there. A customer service representative had emailed me back, saying: "Please contact the Starbucks Coffee location directly at the following phone number: (Phone number of that Starbucks Coffee location) regarding your inquiry." So, I did just that. A female worker had answered the phone. I told her my question. She said, that, no cash had been found from outside in the drive-thru area, and had been turned in to them. She said that she was one of the Supervisors who works there, and that if the Manager knows about something, then so do rest of the workers, as well. I then said "Thanks", and I then hung up the phone. However, I then started to get a new OCD-related thought: "Does she know, or take into "consideration", if the Manager knows whether or not any cash had been found from outside in the drive-thru area, and had been turned in to one of the workers?". So then, I had called back the same Starbucks Coffee location a SECOND time. The "same" female worker had answered the phone (or, the person's voice "sounded like" the same person, who I had spoken to, when I had called the FIRST time). I then said to the person on the phone: "Hi, I had just called about a minute ago, about the cash incident." She politely responded: "Yeah..." I then said to her: "So, the Manager wouldn't know, if any cash had been found outside in the drive-thru area, and had been turned in to one of the workers over there?" She then responded back: "Like I had mentioned before, if the Manager knows something, then the rest of the workers know it, as well. And, I had checked the records book, and there was nothing written down about any cash having been found from outside in the drive-thru area, and having been turned in to us." I then said to her: "So basically, you are saying, that, if the Manager knows something, then you guys all know it, right?". She responded back: "Yes." I then said "Thanks" to her, and I hung up the phone. However, I then started getting a NEW OCD-related thought: "Was the person on the phone, who I had spoken to, when I had called that Starbucks Coffee location the SECOND time, the SAME person who I had spoken to, when I had called that Starbucks Coffee location the FIRST time?". Please provide any input on my situation. Also, please answer the following question of mine........... QUESTION: Should I call that same Starbucks Coffee location a THIRD time, and when and IF a female worker answers the phone, should I say to her: "Hello, I was the person who previously had called your Starbucks Coffee location, about the cash-related incident. Just wondering, but, were you the SAME person who I had spoken to, when I had called the SECOND time your Starbucks Coffee location, as when I had called the FIRST time your Starbucks Coffee location?" I suffer from severe obsessive-compulsive symptoms Additional Details: To be honest, I "deep down" do NOT think I had lost any cash. It's just my OCD-related thought, that makes me "THINK" I MIGHT have dropped some cash out of my car window. However, I have absolutely NO evidence to prove it. Also, I do not remember seeing any cash lying in my car when I had gotten inside it, to begin with. This OCD-related thought of whether or not I had dropped any money, specifically cash, had first "popped in my head" after I was holding "$5 dollar bill" in my hand, while waiting in the drive-thru line. I then EVEN had opened my car door, in order to double-check and see whether or not any cash was on the ground outside next to my car. However, I did NOT see any cash. However, then another OCD-related thought had popped in my head: "Well, maybe I might not have properly "scanned with my eyes" the ENTIRE ground outside next to my car. So, that's what lead me to email the Starbucks Coffee company, via the company's online website.

  • Answer:

OCD eh? I didn't read the entire thing (little bit to long) but I understand the mind set your in. I would recommend you clean your car out and not call a third time. Think of it like this- If money falls out of your car it would only be small change because your wallet is what carries the majority of your money right? Your thinking a bit too much (perfectly normal) whenever you get a thought in your head concentrate on your breathing and start counting how many breathes you have taken, try this for 5 minutes a day. You will realize after a week or so that your mind is clear and only major thoughts come to mind.
