What do you call the glasses wore by near-sighted people?

Why earlier in my life everyone picked on me and isolated me, now I can't get people off me?

• I'm a black guy now 21 years old, when I was younger I wore glasses was nerdy and was chubby and I lived in an urban area all the black kids picked on me and bullied all the way until I was 13 then I moved to a suburban area that had blacks and whites. In the 7th and 8th grade everyone all the white kids and black kids picked on me. When I hit highschool everyone stopped out of fear because I got tall and big and started playing sports, on the sports all the white coaches, black coaches and blacks and white kids picked on me as well. I also was very shy for a big guy, 6'2" 280 lbs but I ditched the glasses and people isolated me all the way until I graduated from highschool. I didn't have too many friends just a small group. Now I am 21 years old, my body has pretty much fully developed, I am no longer chubby and very shy any more, but now everyone wants to be friendly to me and I can not get people off of me. I have a completely different outlook on life than most and I am flustered by it, I do not understand people at all. I have not wore my glasses on a consistent basis for a long time, but every now and then I wear them out and people still treat me differently when I wear them and I don't wear them.

  You said you were always shy, could it be that you're more confident now that you've ditched the glasses and extra weight? The best advice I could give you is to love yourself and don't lose sight of who you are. I know it's hard dealing with people when they couldn't see the good in you before, but you've gotta move on or you'll be sad for a long time. You have to do your best to forget the past and look to the future. Be happy, and take advantage of your new found popularity.
