I need to write about a real life example on my Personality chapter in Psychology!!! HELP!!!!?
-
I am in Intro to Psychology and I have to write a response/reaction paper to the Personality chapter. It is so hard for me to understand this book, let alone write about a real life experience. At this point, I am so frustrated I do not know where to begin. I have to write about a movie or something I have experienced (she will never know if I did or didn't) relating to this chapter. Any help that anyone can give me is GREATLY appreciated!!! These are the topics that are within that chapter... -Personality: What it is and how it is measures (self reports/projective techniques-inkblot tests) -The trait approach: Identifying patterns of behavior -The Psychodynamic Approach: Forces that lie beneath awareness (Id, Ego, Superego) -Dealing with inner conflict (defense mechanisms) -Psychosexual Stages and the Development of Personality -The Humanistic-Existential Approach: Personality as choice -The Social Cognitive Approach: Personalities in Situations -The self: Personality in the mirror (self concept and self esteem) That is the end-as if that isn't enough!!! I have done papers on all the other 11 chapters before this one, but I cannot think of a situation or something that has happened to me or anyone I know to use as a good example for this chapter. If anyone can think of any ideas please please please I need all the help I can get!! I appreciate everything in advance and hope someone can shed some light on this for me. (I can even talk about a movie regarding any of these subjects. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!

It's pretty hard to help you with this, but based on what you wrote, I would pick one theoretical approach and write about how your personality fits into that approach. The Self looks to be the easiest to me. Then take a movie...probably an emotionally arousing one and talk about how it affected you and how the view of personality was involved. For example, the movie "An American Crime" (based on a true story) was powerful and not only did it make me cry but it also made me sick to my stomach. My concept of self and my self-esteem were greatly important in what I experienced. Hopefully that helps. It does sound like the project isn't defined very well.
