Alone in High School, is College better?

  • Bear with me here, I'm a Junior in high school right now. I've grown to hate everyone. My school is a private high school and its primarily full of fake bitchy people(thats a little melodramatic, there are decent people mixed in there.) Anyway,I get along with everyone and have a bunch of "friends," but no one I'm really close to anymore. Everyone has changed and evolved into something else,and now i find myself alone most the time. I find myself going to bed feeling like I'm missing something in my 16 years of life already. I get along with every "clique" or group, but i don't specifically fit anywhere. It's like i don't belong. Just getting on that Facebook crap is depressing because it broadcasts how great everyone else's lives are. I've never even had a boyfriend before because to them I'm just that 'funny girl that everyone likes.' And when i leave school, its like i fall off the face of the universe. I'm decently close to my family, we get along anyway. I could never discuss this with them though; to the outside person it'd be easy to see think i were happy, that i belonged. I guess what I'm wondering is was college or high school life better for you? Does college seem like a better place for someone like me; to meet a larger wave of people? I'm just tired of having no one close to again, and it feels like in High School everyone is just..Not.Real. Any advice, stories, anything would be great . If you even took the time to read all this, you're probably a real kind person.. Most of that was ranting, but i guess its nice to see that people out there maybe do care. Happy New Years

    I'm 16. I do kind of feel like you too. Except for two things! I'm shy too. Also, I probably don't have allot of freedom then you. Only because of my moms fiancee. He think he's my father, but he's really not! I don't really like him. Because he changes up the rules. It's like I'm a puppet. Anyways, I think college will be better for the both of us. Only because we will have more freedom to find out who we are. People will be more mature and not immature. They won't be so judgmental(probably will though). But it would probably be easier to make new friends, because of the wide varieties of people that will be their and some will have our same interests. Also we can start fresh and new, with a new style and a new look of course. So we can feel better, you know? College is my motivation to get away from my moms fiancee and sometimes my mom. Because they are overbearing. I too cannot talk to them about stuff, that's bothering me at school.

For me college made it worse, but for most it was better. I went threw some tough times over the summer before college that ruined freshmen year. I never really recovered from it. I just rather keep to myself. But most people I know who sound like you got along just fine.

sometimes I get sick of peoples superficiality as well. I'm university and am glad to meet some like-minded people. The rest are just boozy pothead who have unsafe sex. Thank goodness I'm not like that but another time I hear STD somewhere in college I'd laugh in their face

College is high school with more risks if you meet the wrong crowd but can be amazing if you be yourself and accept life then people with your likes will turn to you and make friends. But i got hurt in college way harder than i ever was in ms and hs :( more pain cuz we are adults now. I still get picked on too and ive been in college for 2 years. Just be strong and be yourself :] remember it is school and its to better your future

ive felt like that, isolated. I cant tell you i know about college, because I havent been there, but there are more mature people there than in high school, i think. you seem like one of the few that see how bitchy those girls act, because most kids that age don't, they just go with it and dont realize their acting fake too. I think you would do fine in college, if you study hard and keep your mind on your schoolwork, it shows your better than them.
