How to find musicians?

• Hey! How do I find more musicians? I'm a metal guitarist looking to form a band with musicians but anytime I find musicians they aren't intrested in my type of music. I can play this style of music(and this song) with ease and stuff, but I can't find the right people to play it with. I'm a serious 15 year old musician who plays 4 hours a day, 7 days a week and trying to form a band. I always write songs, and even if they sound horrible, I will edit and edit and edit the song until I make it sound good, wether i want to keep the song or not. I do it for song writing skills on my guitar. Anyway how can I find musicians? I've tried asking like EVERYONE I know, Ive tried craigslist, I have tried classifieds in my news papers, musician ads on the internet...etc. It's especially really hard since there isn't a metal scene in my city. I live in College Station tx, (which has like 40,000 people) and theres HARDLEY any metal bands. What do I do for finding musicians? Everyones going to the mainstream punk pop and no one likes the Metal music anymore. -Matthew

  There's a website called bandmix.com where you can post a profile for yourself or look through existing ones for like-minded musicians. It's much, much better than craigslist and random ads in music stores and it's free to use. Even better, you can search by zip code to eliminate geographically undesirable people. The site is very well known among active musicians and just about everyone I know is registered there. I've used it to find three bandmates over the years, as well. Chances are you're not alone in wanting to form a metal band. Lots of people have an aversion to craigslist, though, because of the criminal element that trolls for victims there. Most people don't find their dream bandmates on their first outing, but don't rule out joining a band that plays other kinds of music if that's the only choice you have at this point.
