To get into the music industry?
-
I have recently come to the realization that I want to work for the music industry. I've decided to change my major to sound production or music business. Furthermore, I am also very skilled on the guitar (not being arrogant. I wouldn't be considering this lifestyle if I wasn't good at it). My question is, after I get my degree, how difficult would it be to make it? I'm satisfied with working soundboards...or playing on a stage. Just want to be in the industry somehow. So...what steps should I take besides what I'm already doing?

What's your idea of "making it"? Many of us play for free, unfortunately, and unless you plan on running your own studio, there isn't that much money in working a soundboard, but it's a great way to meet other musicians and work with them and their music... and if one of them makes it, maybe they hook your band up with an opening gig. But making a living as an actor, musician, or writer is just about the hardest thing to do.
