How can I sing better without lessons?

Do voice lessons actually work? How can I get to sing better?

  • I have a nice voice. Not anything special but it's not bad. It's just im "flat" like my friends tell me (who are big into singing and acting) because I can't "belt" like they can. I can go pretty high. But I have just a like singing/speaking voice that is nice, and an actual singing voice that I have to use to go high. And when I transition from those two it's not smooth at all... I wish I could sing like my friends so I guess what I am asking is if I voice lessons really work or not? If I practiced and really pushed myself would I be able to sing like my friends?

    Yes! If you get a good enough teacher like the one i have it really helps. They can show you techniques that can strengthen your vocal cords. It is also a super fun experience because you learn a lot of new songs. It also widens your range. I have jumped a whole octave higher than i could sing before i took lessons! If I were you, i would definately try it! If you don't like it... quit. :)

If voice lessons didn't work then all the big stars wouldn't have them to help train them. its like a brilliant student in maths, he may be good at DOING it but can't teach for s*it & vice versa. i have very little experience on singing in general but if its anything like any other instrument with lessosn you will increase 10 fold in weeks, rather than ''learning by yerself'' would take months to get to the same level. Technique ALWAYS comes over brute-power

Voice lessons can help you improve and teach you to do those "runs" that great singers do, and you will never know how much better you can be until you try. Don't just buy an online course, though, like a lot of people do. These online courses can help people who already sing pretty well to get better, but they won't help someone like you who says they have trouble singing. Go with real-live lessons; get yourself a good vocal coach who is willing to teach you the basics (it's not going to be cheap!) and you will probably see drastic improvement within a short period of time.
