I'm looking to buy an electric-acoustic guitar. Which one is better (links included)?

This one in Black - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/rogue-dreadnought-cutaway-acoustic-electric-guitar Or This one - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/jasmine-by-takamine-es341c-cutaway-dreadnought-acoustic-electric-guitar I'm not willing to spend more than the second one. I'm an intermediate player, so I'd like a good guitar. One that actually sounds good, and not a piece of crap. So out of the two, which one is a better brand? I don't care about the "deal". And I was wondering if the Rogue is any good, especially for that price? I've read the reviews, but I would still like some opinions. Thanks.

Answer:
The Jasmine definitely is. I bought a jasmine for my gf who wanted to start playing, and for being as cheap as it is (money wise) it sounds really great. I was skeptical buying it, but i was very glad I did. Great sound and payability for the price. Their maker, Takamine, is a very good-prestegious brand. Rogues are cheap and crappy guitars. Don't get the Rogue. Since you have already been playin for some time, don't waste your money on a crappy guitar.

>>I'm not willing to spend more than the second one. I'm an intermediate player, so I'd like a good guitar. << Good guitars cost more than $239. That's squarely in the range of beginners' guitars. If you're an intermediate guitarist you deserve more than a beginners' guitar. Spend more and get something like the Taylor 214ce; that's a good guitar for the intermediate player.

you get what you pay for dude. before you go and buy one that's brand new , look on Craigslist! you can find amazing guitars on their for amazing prices. used guitars are always better anyways because aged wood and strings that have been used sound better. if not then go with the rogue.

Definitely the Takamine Jasmine would be a better guitar. They're actually a pretty nice guitar for the price. Although they don't have a solid wood top and sound a bit dull, they play nice and are well constructed. You should be pretty happy with that one. I have honestly never played a Rogue guitar and none of my students do either, so I honestly can't comment on it much. It does seem pretty similar feature-wise to the Jasmine. The Fishman pickup/preamp is a good quality for such an inexpensive guitar. For the price it might be worth trying it out to see if you like it. MusiciansFriend.com is good about returns if you don't like it. It would be more of a gamble than the Jasmine, but for half the price, it might be worth a try and they do have a lot of positive reviews on the MF web site. Personally, I'd get the Grand Concert body though if I were getting the Rogue: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/rogue-grand-concert-cutaway-acoustic-electric-guitar But in that price range I'd probably go with this one as my first choice because I don't like laminate tops and won't buy an acoustic guitar that doesn't have a solid spruce top anymore: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/mitchell-md100sce-dreadnought-cutaway-acoustic-electric-guitar/518043000010000 Mitchell's are a good quality guitar and you can actually go to Guitar Center and try one out before you buy it. I've played them and they're pretty nice for the money.
