How do you tune with a chromatic guitar tuner?

Can you tune a ukulele with a chromatic headstock guitar tuner?

  • I'm buying a ukulele! I already have a guitar, so I have this great Planet Waves chromatic headstock tuner for my guitar. By my knowledge, headstock tuners measure vibrations, so wouldn't they work for ukuleles too? I also have a Korg tuner that's standard, where you put the tuner down and play and the speakers pick up the guitar sounds, and that's how you tune it. I'm not sure what you'd call that, but that's what I have. Anyway, could either/or work for tuning my soon-to-be uke and, if so, which would be better? THANKS!

Of course you can. "Chromatic" means you can tune to any note of the scale, not just those for the standard tuning of a specific instrument. It probably won't cover the entire frequency range of human hearing, but guitar and uke are in the same general ballpark pitchwise, so no problem.
