How To Write The Screenplay?

How to write a screenplay, starting with just an idea?

• Hi people. I have loads of ideas for tv/movies etc, but I have no idea on how to start to write them! Would it be easier to start writing with a comedy (of which I have ideas for lots of sketches involving the police etc), or a film (again of which I have lots of ideas). How would one go about writing a screenplay, just starting with an idea? Example of one of my ideas for a screenplay... Some dude is a bit of a weirdo/nutcase with no friends, and after some thought decides to join the US marines. He meets a guy called Carl Charles Ellerly and they become good friends. When they go on their call of duty, they often go against their commands and end up saving a lot of people, including many of their squad. One time they go into a building and friend gets very injured (knows he will die), so he says: How many men have I killed? Dude: NINE What is my squad? CSE My initials? CCO Remember that… Who can work out what the annogram is? Thanks
