How hard is it to learn to play the harmonica learning by a book/DVD?

A harmonica or a harp is a versatile instrument with a limited diatonic scale. But by bending notes and so forth you can produce some neat effects including the famous train whistle. It's no longer too hard, I simply variety of picked it up on my own and messed around with it for a even as.
