Can you help me with European history?

Can you help me with this European History question?

  • In the earliest medieval times, Islam spread further and wider than any previous great civilization. During the European Renaissance period, in the early 1400s, Chinese mariners sailed immense fleets of ships all throughout the Indian Ocean world. These were probably the biggest wooden ships ever to set sail on Earth. Yet, it was European explorers who opened ocean pathways throughout the globe. Why they and not other Eurasian peoples?

  • Answer:

The islamic world had access to the silk road and by extension Asian trade routes. The Europeans did not and had to find a way to India AROUND the silk road. This led to the Age of Exploration and Navigation. Other European peoples were not as advanced or had no need to due to their proximity with the Islamic World. China did not sail as much as the Europeans because early in the (I believe it was Ming Dynasty but I could be wrong) the Emperor moved the country to a policy of isolationism and stopped their exploration. Had they continued to explore the seas they would have undoubtedly discovered the new world.

good question ,europeans didnt have too well an acess to the east and it took a long time for the goods to arrive on the silkroad so there was an idea we can go east by heading west in hoping to find an easier trade route to the east europeans were hoping to go directly to the source . and in looking for china they found america and exploited all the exotic trade items and it helped europe become even richer

The Europeans had a reason to. The Chinese had pretty much all the resources they needed. The Europeans needed to travel more to get resources.
