Why do people think basketball is not a contact sport?

ive been told that basketball is not a contact sport. As a basketball player I would have to disagree. Its not at much contact as football or hockey...but its still a contact sport even tho the object of the game is no avoid contact. You still have to box out..screen..take charges...post up..fight to get the ball....seems like contact to me

basketball is nothing but contact!!!!You take charges,on defense you get hit,to get a rebound you will get hit,if you get fouled you get hit....the list goes on!!!whoever said that it's not a contact sport,is lying!!!

It's definitely a contact sport.....there are injuries all the time. I'm a swimmer, and swimming is an example of a non-contact sport.
i agree with u 100%. the reason why people think its not a contact sport is because fouls are called a lot unlike in football of hockey. that doesnt mean fouls dont happen though so obviously its a contact sport
