Is it possible for someone who has never played high school basketball to make it into college basketball..?
-
I played middle school basketball, my AVG scoring was 10.6 pts, and was the smallest player and played PG with averaging 5-7 assists, but after that I stopped playing since I felt my height wasn't going to improve. I was 5'3. I'm now 5'9 and my vertical jump is alot better. I also played Lacrosse for 9-10th grade. The freshman basketball coach had offered me a spot as PG, cause he saw how fast I was, and my ball handling was decent, but had alot of potential, evidently I refused cause he told me I wouldn't start any time soon. I'm running progressively 3-5 miles every few days, and working on my shots. I would like to play PG for any team once I get into college, is it possible to play college basketball if I've never played HS basketball and how? What training methods should I take?

Answer:
Refusing to play basketball just because the coach told you that you "wouldn't start any time soon" isn't a good sign. You're not going to start in college either, at least not right away, no matter how much potential you have. If you're serious about it, you need to spend more time practicing your shots and your ball-handling abilities. You also need to find some place where you can play regularly against other people... a rec league, a playground, something like that. Then you might be able to make the practice squad on a small college team, and if you impress the coach you might actually make the team after a couple of years of hard work.

If you want reality, then lets say you re good and you work really hard at it. But somewhere out there, there is a 5'6, 14 year old putting a ball through the hoop and making sounds of the net while eating his lunch and having sex with your girlfriend. And its just reality kid, that's the way it is. If you want a real shot from your stature, you need basketball 24/7 and i mean no friends, an hour of school and your girl in someone else's arms. If youre not willing to make this sacrifice, im afraid there is no guaranteed chance. But hey anything can happen man and if you are willing to take this path, My money is on you.

Yeah at some small college where sports is not a priority. Bigger schools will have the best players in the country who have been playing since they could walk, if this is your goal forget about it.

no or yes it depends on how good they are

Some people believe that the best of the playground legends could hang in the NBA if they were given a chance. I'm gonna say that if making it in the NBA is a million-to-one shot, then making it without any high school or college experience makes it a hundred times harder. Anybody who tries to do it is wasting their time.
