BASIC SAT/GRE LONG PASSAGE READING COMPREHENSION?
-
I have a great deal of difficulty in answering the long passage of Reading Comprehension (RC) question for either GRE or SAT test. My problem is that I always get the answer wrong and I cannot pace myself in answering the question on time because I always run out of time. So, please give me practical advice and tip to correctly handle the RC question in GRE/SAT test. I really need pragmatic and scholar advice so that when I put those advice in practice my test score will be automatically improved, let us say + 50% of improvement, for example. My vocabulary is very good so I understand the paragraphs of the passage but I cannot answer the question correctly; also how to answer on time because a typical long passage RC on GRE/SAT is about 500 words, 5 paragraphs etc Please give detailed and step-by-step explanation of your answer by providing real practical advice and secret to ace the RC question on GRE/SAT Thank you and have nice summer season.

Answer:
I didn't take the SAT yet, but I've taken the PSAT and Pre-ACT tests, and basically you should read all the questions about the passage first so you know what to look for. Also, you can skim the passage instead of fully reading it so you get the idea and answers, but don't waste alot of time. Usually the questions go in order corresponding to their location in the passage, so if you come across the answer to a question before you get the one one before it, chances are it's in the paragraph before it and you missed it. Look for key words and try to estimate the answers' locations based on the technique of organization used in the passage after you initially skim it. It sometimes just takes practice and alot of it is common sense and reasoning, so yeah. I hope this is helpful. Good luck. :)

Speed reading? If your reading speed is below 150 words per minute you will lose in college anyway. A good speed reading course can get your reading speed up to 300 easily (actually, reading the subtitles in anime can help, first with a remote to pause and restart, then as you pick up speed, just reading them) and can get you up to maybe 500 wpm with perfect comprehension. Worth it, and many places have such. Software AceReader can help, most educators say Ace REader only works if you really want it, if you have encouragement for it. So consider the japanese cartond with the english subtitles.
