Classical Elements Question?
-
If Thales had water as his element; Anaximenes, air ; Heraclitus; Fire. Who made Earth as his element or was it just added by Empedocles? Is it possible that Xenophanes made Earth as his element? What I am saying is, each of these Pre-Socratic Philosophers believe that everything in the universe is originated from a certain thing and these things are the elements, so who believed the Earth is the origin of the universe?

Answer:
Hello Kyle J, I am not sure about the answer related to the philosopher who has considered earth as the origin. But I am sure that the first and foremost element is 'space'. It is named as Akasa in Sanskrit. Right from space light comes out ie fire. Then it gets materialised in the form of air. Then water and then earth. Space, fire, air, water and earth. Scientifically, field stands for space. fire stands for electromagnetic wave. Air stands for less dense. Water stands for liquid form. Finally earth stands for solidification ie solids. Any way solid gets liquefied back and vapourised. Emitting electromagnetic radiations right from solid, liquid and gas in incandescent state. We observer come to the conclusion all these happen in the free space medium. But the most important question is that as space is relative concept, then which is the absolute? To me, you, the observer, are the absolute. I too being an observer am the absolute. In general the observer is the absolute. This is well realized only when we realize our own self. So Self Realization is the right answer for all enquiries.
