What happened to the reactor in Japan after the tsunami?

Lots of details are available online. There were 6 reactors at the site, three of them completely melted down and had a partial breach of containment. The site has a pointer to some CNN footage with Eliot Spitzer and Michio Kaku.

The cooling system failed and there were cracks everywhere which lead to leakage and explosion. Many people were affected by it and we don’t know the true seriousness as the measurement is just so unclear and unfamiliar. They are still trying to contain the fukushima power plants and also investigating why 2 of the workers were seriously injured.(They went in to the plant without boots and their feet touched nuclear water and burnt.) They are checking the other plans all over the country and try to make it stronger so they will be safe for the next natural disaster like Kanto Earthquake and volcanic Mt. Fuji.
