How do I study for Chemistry in A-levels when I have a weak foundation?
-
I've just recently started college and am doing Cambridge A-Levels and Chemistry is one of my subjects. The problem is that out of all of them Chemistry is my weakest because I practically learnt NOTHING much at all during high school. I spent it monkeying around and I'm honestly regretting it. I started off high school chemistry not concentrating the first year and by the time it was the last year of high school I was already left behind in class and it was impossible to pick up especially since I have got a very weak foundation. Dropping Chemistry is not an option as I would like to do medicine after college. So basically I really got to somehow make it through for Chemistry. My foundation is so weak that I'm not even 100% sure in balancing an equation and even simple task like calculating moles questions, concentrations etc for the practical is a trouble for me as even though I know the formula, I'm just not sure how to go about it. I'm not even sure HOW to start some times with the questions. I find Chemistry very, very complicated and confusing and I just tend to get lost in it. Anyhow it just seems like a whole big mountain of consequence for not paying any attention to Chemistry at all and now when things are a lot more advanced in college its gonna be double the load. I do not know how or where to start but taking the first step is difficult considering how much I have to catch up for. Any tips, advice, technique and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:
You're gonna push harder then. In this case you're gonna have to start from scratch, hence you're gonna need more time. If you don't have time, MAKE time. Take your time and go through from the beginning. Get a course syllabus and work with that. Practice questions. Do the same questions as much times as you need to do it, even if you got it correct the first time.
