Where to get heating oil in Groton, CT?

Where do oil refineries get electricity to "refine the oil?"?

• i know exactly how it works, fractional distilation, so dont tell me about that!!! i need to know what runs them, you cant say oil because, they make it, and crude oil has no purposes Where do they get their electricity to heat the furnace and where do power stations get their electricity to start!!' IM confused so answer THE question, I do know what they do, i study chemistry!!!!

  They tap into the power grid, just like your house does. I do not know a lot about the history of power plants, but one could imagine that the very first power plant to go online was hydro-electric. All they would have needed was humans to build it piece by piece. Once they let the water flow into the generators, the power grid was born and other stuff could tap into it. As for where they got the power to make the metal that went into the parts of the first power plant... well that probably came from burning wood, which ultimately came from the sun.
