Is this redox reaction balanced?

What is not a redox reaction?

  • I know that a redox reaction is when oxidation and reduction happens at the same time. Ive got some exercises: "What of the following equations are redox reactions"? a) Na+ + Cl- --> NaCl b) Cu2 + Fe --> Cu + Fe2+ c) 2Na + 2H2O --> 2Na+ + H2 + 2OH- To me all of these seems like redox reactions: a) Na is being reduced, Cl is being oxidized b) Cu is being reduced, Fe is being oxidized c) Na is being oxidized, H is being reduced My teacher says Im wrong, and I think so too. Can anyone explain me what is not a redox reaction? There are oxidation and reduction in almost all reactions... Any help will be appreciated! Thank you -Henrik
