What is the molar mass of hemoglobin?

Calculate the molar mass of the hydrate MgSO4 . 7H2O?

  • I know I just need to add the 2 molar masses together, but in my case I didn't start with knowing the number of water molecules in the hydrate. So my question is how would I find the molar mass of the water of the hydrate, without knowing the number of molecules, or show me how to find that number of molecules. For example I found this explanation: eg Molar mass MgSO4.nH2O = 246.488g/mol Molar mass MgSO4 = 120.376g/mol 246.488-120.376 = 126.112 now divide by 18.016 = 7 waters But I "don't know" either the total molar mass, or the number of water molecules.

  • Answer:

If you truly mean molar mass, then whatever your explanation is, it's not that. You don't need to know the number of molecules or anything; molar mass is just the grams per mole, which is constant. One mole of water will be the same amount of grams as a different mole of water. Just add up the molar masses of the individual atoms. (the molar mass can be found on most periodic tables)

Just add up the masses of the elements. You're making it more complicated than it is.
