Okay so you have 3 beakers filled with water and a drop of food coloring Beaker 1- Ice cold so food coloring is stiff and RED Beaker 2-Beaker is regular tempature food coloring spreads out a little bit but stays red Beaker 3-Boiled water the food coloring spreads out and is pink .....Questions..... What does the food coloring represent? How does each beaker represents a phase in matter? Which phase does each beaker represent? Explain each phase at a molecular level (food coloring)? YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS WILL HELP ME THANK YOU

Answer:
You are doing an experiment in DIFFUSION to find out how temperature affects the SPEED of diffusion. The food coloring is made up of molecules that spread out by diffusion. In cold water the speed of the molecules is very low and they spread out or diffuse very slowly. At room temp they spread out a little faster, and in boiling water the molecules of water and food coloring are moving very fast and spread out very fast. You could make an argument that the cold beaker represents the solid phase, the room temp one represents the liquid phase, and the hot one represents the gas phase.
