How can you tell if a reaction is spontaneous or non spontaneous simply by looking at the cell potential?
-
-
Answer:
I presume you mean the sum of two half cell potentials. For electrons to have the potential for transfer there has to be a giver and a receiver. If the combined potentials are +, the reaction is spontaneous. If the potential is negative then the reaction is nonspontaneous (but the reverse reaction is!!)
