How to Calculate Specific Heat of the metal?

How do you calculate the specific heat capacity of a metal? i.e. Magnesium?

  • Answer:

You calculate the specific heat capacity using the following formula: Specific Heat Capacity = q(heat) / (mass x change in temperature) but you must have q, which is measured in joule; mass which is measured in grams and the change in temperature, which is measured in degree Celsius. Hope this helps, Bill
