What is the balanced nuclear reaction equation of iodine-125?

  • This may or may not be a dumb question, but I am trying to figure out the balanced nuclear reaction equation of iodine-125. So far I have gotten this far .. 125 127 I ==> I - ? 53 53 Now I would be taking away 2 Correct? e 0 Or am I completely incorrect? Help?

  • Answer:

going from I125 to I127, the mass is increasing by 2. this means that 2 neutrons are being added to the nucleus I125 + 2 1/0n --> I127.....neutron capture
