Where can I get "Sodium Acetate?

Isn't sodium acetate the same as salt(the one bought from store)?

    Salt (sodium chloride) will not work. What makes sodium acetate work is that its crystals contain enough water to dissolve the sodium acetate at a high temperature. Salt crystals do not. You can make sodium acetate by reacting baking soda and vinegar and boiling down the result until as much water as possible is removed (ordinary vinegar is 95% diluted with water).

no. salt is sodium chloride. nacl. sodium acetate is C2H3NaO2 it smells like vinegar. it's acidic. you can get sodium acetate by asking a university lab. or you can make it yourself. it's just boiling distilled white vinegar and some baking soda. some filtering. some purification with activated charcoal. just do a search on how to make sodium acetate.

Salt is sodium chloride and couldn't be used as a substitut as far as I know. However you do not need sodium acitate to make hot ice you only need vinegar and Baking soda.
