Alcohol Flush Reaction ruining my life.?

• Hello all, I am 17 years of age and currently in college doing A-levels. I'm going to university this September all being well, and it's really started to concern me. Basicly I beleive I have alcohol flush reaction. My face goes pretty red when I drink any amount of alcohol, meaning that I have had to avoid drinking it around friends due to embarresment. I am white english, and understand that this is more common for people of different ethnicities. I understand that alcohol may be a large part of life at uni, and wondered if there is anything I can do to stop this? Is it worth seeing a doctor, is there a cure? Also, I would love some advice on avoiding alcohol while mantaining a socal life. I don't have a social life now, but I have been in situations where I have to drink alcohol otherwise I get mocked. This has left me feeling depressed. I know that friends shouldn't do that to you, but until university I am stuck with the ones I have. Thank you

  The flush reaction to alcohol is genetic. You can't change it. Just tell people you have an allergic reaction to alcohol. If they know you they will accept that. If they won't accept it, lose them. They're no friends of yours.
