CPAP, sleep and testosterone levels?
-
I recently was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and tried a CPAP at a sleep study. It apparently worked for me. Without CPAP, I stopped breathing on average of 45-46 times. With CPAP, only 5 times during the night. I slept 87% of the night with the CPAP on. I was also diagnosed with below average testosterone levels. My endo thinks it’s related to the lack of sleep (sleep apnea). She wants to see me again after I had some time with using the CPAP to see if testosterone levels increase. Problem: I am in process of dealing with the CPAP company that will provide me with the CPAP. They told me they have to get authorization first from my insurance which takes 5-10 days then once authorized, I will see a CPAP therapist a few days after to get set up. However, my endo appt and next blood test is at the end of April. My appt and blood test is at end of april because I am having a baby end of april, and I know the baby is here, I won’t be able to fully use the CPAP fully as I am sure the baby will be keeping my wife and I up most of the nights and the results of my blood test may be altered due to that if I do the endo appt and blood test any later than end of April. The issue is, if I don’t get the CPAP for say 14 days from today (10 days for insurance to get authorized and few days before I see CPAP therapist), that will only leave me with about 3-4 weeks of using the CPAP before getting my blood test and endo appt. Will that be enough time to find out if CPAP will help improve my testosterone levels back to normal levels?
