How do I build a worm farm?

How can i create/build and operate a vertical farm?

  • I am a student in college with a dream. One day I want to build or help create the vertical farm (http://nymag.com/news/features/30020/). I am an undergrad majoring in Environmental Engineering. I can envision these farms growing foods that will provide our future population and i want to be apart of that. These farms can create their own energy and also power local houses. I have been growing foods hydroponically to experiment which fruits/veg need what nutrients for maximum growth and taste. I was wondering how can i create/building and operate a vertical farm and make it come true?

    I am sure you would find it is more economical to use ordinary farming techniques. How, for example, would you be able to justify the costs of trying to recreate the vast areas under agriculture in this world, into vertical space? It would cost a bomb! What about harvesting? Sorry, but I feel any vertical agriculture should be left to having a vertical garden in a small apartment or some such. I think it totally impractical as a large- scale project.

Well the first step is learning how to balance your livestock on top of one another.......lolz, i think the easiest start would be to build a terrarium type greenhouse with "shelves" in it, maybe something simple, like tomatos in it........
