Where can I find jobs in computer engineering?

Computer Engineering jobs with apple?

  • I am a senior in High school and am really good with and really enjoy working with computers. I am extremely good at school, especially math and science so i figured engineering was for me. Here recently i have decided that i would like to major in computer engineering. I really like the products that apple makes and thinks they are neat and cool. I think it would be really cool to help develop the next big apple product, iphone, ipod or mac computers. Is computer engineering the right field for these kind of jobs? I am more interested in hardware so for those of you wondering, yes i have thought of software engineering. Also would it be possible for this to be an entry level job or would i have to work a few years somewhere else before going to work for apple?

  • Answer:

Computer Engineering is a combination of two disciplines Electrical Engineering and computer science. If you plan on only getting your bachelors you might want to go with Electrical because it is simply broader and for the most part computer engineering is considered to be a subdivision of electrical engineering. If you are going to get your masters as well though you can go EE for your BA and computer for your Masters. If you like programming you will be exposed to it in computer engineering. Like I said its a combination of computer science and electrical engineering so you will be taught C/C++ Java and what ever else they feel like throwing at you so dont think you're getting around the software aspect. Computers imply hardware and software. If you want strictly hardware dont go computer. As for getting hired at apple, who knows, getting the job is all about who you know. It's pretty much a popularity contest if you're just out of college. Be sure to be very active in college and participate in clubs which compete so you have nice stuff to put on your resume alongside your degree.
