What is a cool job involved with chemistry?

What areas of chemistry are involved in mechanical engineering?

  • I am considering studying mechanical engineering and I would like to know what areas of chemistry are involved in mechanical engineering. I really like the following areas of chemistry : stoicheometry, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, chemical equilibrium, gases, and electrochemistry. Not a big fan of lewis structures and periodic trends though. I would like to work in the fields of biotechnology or material science once I am finished with my degree. So how many chemistry electives should I take? I already took chem 1 and I am now taking chem 2 as an elective, I also took general bio 1 and 2 as electives. Thanks you.

  • Answer:

Maybe you should look into chemical engineering. You seem to like chemistry. Did a little bit of research...i didn't think MechEng would involve any chemistry but I was wrong... at my school the chemistry classes they take entail the following topics: equlibrium theory, thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry, descriptive chemistry, chemical principles with emphasis toward engineering. Almost exactly what you put down. Idk about electives.
