Aeronautical engineer or Architect?
-
Basically, im a 'freshie' right out of high school,a girl also mind you, awaiting my results and i've now come to cross roads with the career paths i want to pursue. Since young, my parents accentuated on science studies( due to the wider range of career choices in the future ), hence i joined the science stream in school and did extremely well in my science, physics, biology, chemistry, modern maths, and add maths (off them all, i really loved physics and biology). Im talented in art too, i can draw really well (took up and excelled in art studies as well)...and this left me now leaning towards aeronautical engineering. It sounds challenging, exciting and very interesting, moreover i would say its the first career no one in the family ever considered pursuing. But, from what i've heard, its very gender- biased (most airlines apparently prefer male engineers than female, correct me if im wrong ). So would it be wise for a girl like me to take up this line on such grounds? I've heard so many negative notes on the field, e.g. very tasking and not fit for females etc. Suddenly, im not sure if its really going to be worth it. I don't want to go into something and find i cant even get a job later on. :( I also had a back up plan, that was to pursue architecture and become an architect. I was told not to as not many women take this up, also because of the gender- biased issue and apparently the pay wasn't at par with the work and effort put in( very low as i've heard ) . Careers in the line of biological studies like bio tech, genetics etc. also seemed great but job opportunities are very scarce where i'm from. At the end of the day, I just want to do something, if possible that has something to do with perhaps designing engines and aircraft bodies perhaps, or buildings and infrastructures, with a good pay to sustain my own life . Im honestly looking for a heavy weighing science background in the job , and if possible , simultaneously use some amount of creativity and innovation in terms of design as i want to keep my career close to something i love( my arts ), so that i don't burn out half way and things like that. i would really appreciate any help, advice, and eyeopeners to the kind of work these careers hold as im still not too sure what goes on with them. P.s can someone tell me if im even on the right track here? :/ ~thank you so much!

Answer:
Neither... If you really want to design aircraft, you are better off with a mechanical engineering degree. At least you will have some flexibility if the aeronautics field does not pan out, and you will have a more stronger engineering background than an aeronautical engineer.
