well what do you want us to tell you?.. you already know what happened right? your soldering iron melted the insultation covering the wires... and then it shorted out the wires. becuase you shorted out your soldering iron..... it drew a very high amount of currrent. that triped the safty mechnism in your mutli box.. to protect the rest of your stuff connected to it. you said all your stuff still works..(besies for the soldering iron i presume) so i im not sure why your on here asking anything.. what do you want to know? http://www.squidoo.com/planets-in-the-galaxy

Check your" multibox" to see any circuit breaker existed. Press it down to reset back the power. Or it has a built-in fuse inside the box, replacing the fuse.

The items you worry about are probably OK, what happened is that you produced a short circuit and blew a fuse, or tripped a breaker. First of all disconnect the solder gun and replace the fuse or reset the breaker. Before connecting the solder gun, be sure to fix and tape the damaged cable.

It won't burst into flames the second it touches it - no. If it were to fall on it and lay there for long enough, then it could cause it to start smoldering, and possibly ignite. I would say you are safe - just don't leave it plugged in unattended. I would also suggest getting a soldering iron base (if you don't already have one).
