Math placement and pursuing engineering.

I am a strong Math student and plan on pursuing a degree in Engineering.....?

  • Answer:

I agree with the other poster. Electrical or Computer Engineering. I had to take 3 physics courses (all engineers did) and a chemistry course (again, required for all engineers) but after that it was MOSTLY non-chemistry. There was still a spattering of chemistry and physics since I took classes like intro. to nuclear fusion (an elective) and semiconductor design, but sticking with computer engineering (or computer science for even less "science", crazy as it sounds) should serve you well.

All engineering relies on the sciences, but if you can get thru Gen Physics II and Gen Chem II you should be okay. Consider Computer Engineering.

Computer science more than computer engineering. If you're extremely into math you can do things like crypto with CS. Basically you want something that only does programming. That's the only real engineering area where you'll use math but not so much science.
