What is a water screen?

What size of metal screen stops water but doesn't restrict air flow?

  • The velocity of the incoming air is something I can't easily change. Im experimenting with a new style of air intake on a car, and I need to remove water droplets before it hits the air filter, otherwise the filter may get saturated after an extended period of driving in the rain. Im trying to get around the current method that causes air to get caught up in 'drop-offs' in the intake manifold that are meant for the water to drain out. This really slows down the incoming air, which is what I want to avoid. I want to get as much air in as fast as possible with as little water as possible.

  • Answer:

You need to get the velocity down then use something like a scouring pad to catch the droplets.
