How do American accents sound to those outside the US?

I'm from Ohio, so I have what many would consider a "midwestern" accent, though it is what I hear in most of the movies. It's not Southern, but it's not Boston or New Jersey either. I personally love "British" accents- that is, English accents- but the American accent is (usually) much easier for me to understand. British accents sound more refined, in my opinion. Please tell me your country when you answer!
