Why is Rosetta Stone (language program) SO EXPENSIVE?

Can someone answer my question about the Rosetta Stone language program?

  • Answer:

I don't know the answer to your question but all I can say for sure is DO NOT GET ROSETTA STONE!!! It is such a waste of time and money you won't learn anything from it as it teaches you through photos but it doesn't tell you what your looking at in english so you have no idea what you are learning!! Its ok for basic things like apple, cat, dog but when you come to pictures of people running around and running under aeroplane wings you really will get lost because you don't know what your learning!! its like is the boy running? is the boy running under the plane? is is just wing of the plane? Its really confusing so I would save your money and look online for free language education support such as words and sentences and then look for books and dvds, it will cost you less and you will learn more!!

I work for Rosetta stone, in 1988 thy came out with Rosetta stone version 2 personnel addition and home school edition. In 2007 they upgraded it and now you have version 3.

Don't get Rosetastone - it's expensive, lessons are very irrelevant, no explanations for grammar, conjugations, writing skills. The main reason everyone knows them is because they have a lot of money to do marketing / advertising. You should check out www.tellmemorestore.com their cheaper and better value for your money. They Cover all the skills to learn a language: speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary, and culture. To learn in an interactive way with dialogues, speech recognition and other cutting edge software. Check their demo find out your self. Good Luck

livemocha.com is a website just like rosetta stone, but free, if you want to check that out before dropping a couple hundred on rosetta stone.

I think level 3 is an actual level IN Rosetta Stone, not a software version like Personal Edition. More info: Level 3 offers the final four units (9 through 12), which are supposed to help "connect with the world around you by building on the language fundamentals and conversational skills you developed in Levels 1 and 2." In addition to expanding upon grammar learned in Levels 1 and 2, Level 3 teaches more in depth vocabulary, including botanical terms, culinary terms, how to express detailed opinions and judgments, and how to discuss politics, religion, and business. As in the first two levels, each unit contains a ten-minute "Milestone" activity in which the user participates in a simulated conversation. The four units in Level 3 are: Home and Health, Life and World, Everyday Things, and Places and Events.

Each language has several levels. For example, there are Spanish levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. You start at level 1 and work your way up to 5. The version of the Rosetta Stone software that is currently being sold is version 3.
