I used to speak fluent greek and turkish and then forgot it all :| DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU best way is to keep using the language. Even if you don't have anyone to talk to - get DVDs, books, music, anything that will bring you in contact with it! You have to keep using it - if you know how to read and write then it wont go away really - you can read and stuff :p but if u are illiterate like I was with greek and turkish, then you have to use it as much as you can

Hi Morgan, That's fantastic, that you speak Spanish so well, and after speaking it for 7 years, I can imagine how fluent. Seeing as you have spoken it for so long it will take a while for you to forget, but you probably will if you don't use it at all. So my suggestion, and this is speaking from experience. Continue to use Spanish speaking tools, whether you rent Spanish movies, or even watch English movies but put the Spanish subtitles on. You could even join Spanish speaking forums to chat with each other, or get a Spanish speaking penpal, and of course you can also converse with your friends in Spain as I assume you must have some that are native Spanish speakers right? There are many tools you can use. Good luck, I think you will do fine. And not to forget that Spain is not too far over the pond from the U.K. : )

I recommend you to keep contact with people online, maybe through Skype, regularly. Also, this website: http://www.londresconchicos.co.uk/ is an example of a site in London where you can easily make contact with Spanish speaking people that live there. I can also personally put you in contact with people who speak Spanish all the time... it's my language and also the one used by my family... my sister (15 years old) loves the internet and is always online and speaks a totally natural Spanish :)

You are already 16 and speak Spanish fluently, so just don't stop using the language and you will not forget it. Read books in Spanish and maybe keep in touch with friend from Spain as well! good luck!
