How did you learn to speak English [India]?

  • I wanna know how you learned to speak English when it was not your native language.. I'm trying to learn English . And I wanna talk like a native speaker. Can you tell me what are the methods you used to learn English... Things that really helped you?? Whenever I talk my native accent come in the way.. Please Help me avoid it and talk like real English guys do..?

    First of all congrats that as an indian u r speaking english. So coming to me i was an english medium student. Actually till my 4rth class i studied in st. joseph's high school but from my 5th to 10th class i studies at st. anthonys high school. I think in that school only i learnt how to speak it. Its nothing but u communicate with ur frnds in english as long as ur in school or college and at home try to speak in english with ur family members and other frnds. Well i by reading english newspapers and by chatting with friends in english through mobile or internet can boost english knowledge in u. Aso plz listen to the commentry of cricket or football its awesome there also u might learn some new words. Coming to our accent its always the indian and iam proud to be an indian. Look dude if u r visiting some english country u might learn the english accent there. Here in india u find everybody speaking indian english.. Or else u can join an MNC call centre where u can deal with english people as a customer care executive ok. good luck. thanx.

Its important to learn the correct pronunciation of words.. we Indians tend to pronounce the words the way we read.. we usually use the native vowels and sounds.. You can watch English movies, BBC and other channels and get to know the correct pronunciation.. After all practice makes you perfect..
