What are good ideas to do this summer for kids?

Summer activity ideas for kids?

  • Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, I have an interview for a job as a day camp councillor in a couple of days and my employer has asked me to present to them an activity idea. I know this sounds simple and i could just says something like basketball, baseball, swimming, dodgeball etc... But I want to sound unique, maybe think of a game that they've never heard of before, that's where you guys come in, i'm kind of stuck on that part. So if anyone has any kind of unique summer activity ideas (mainly for kids aged around 8-12) then please tell me. Also explain how the game works, how many people can participate and anything else you think necessary. Thanks in advance for any help

I remember in camp going on walks through the woods and learning how to make trail signs. You use rocks and sticks to make arrows and markers on the trails so you can know which way you came from. It's a great thing for kids to know so they won't get lost in the woods. Try to follow your signs back to camp.Games like tag, red rover, kick ball, a scavenger hunt, relay races and bug hunts are always fun too.

You could try games like Lifeguards and Sharks. With a big canvas or something all the kids can cover their legs with(a big parachute would work good the one with handles). Everyone holds it and three to five kids go under and four kids are lifeguards. Everyone else moves the canvas up and down like the ocean waves. Then the sharks go around underneath the canvas and pull kids by their legs under. The lifeguards come and have to pull the kids out. If the shark gets the kid that kid becomes a shark. Then after about five minuets you say stop and switch positions.
