Does ceramic, styrofoam, glass or metal cool the quickest?

Why would we use styrofoam instead of glass for insulation? And why does glass get hot?

  • Answer:

insulation is made of things that are easy to work with, and that don't conduct heat well. Metal conducts heat, so we cook on it. Wood does not, so we make cooking utinsils from it. Glass does conduct heat, thats why we have double and triple pane windows. This allows a pocket of air to buffer between panes. Styrofoam holds plenty of air too, so it makes a good insulator.
