What's the cheapest screen printing company on the web?

Uv light box question?

  • hi all i need some help,iv worked for a printing firm for 6 months now my job is making screens for printers using a uv Exposure light box and up until a week ago the box also had a separate on/off timer which counted down in light units "not seconds" in all that time the timer was set to 220 light units per screen exposure "i know its not seconds because apart from it saying light units on the timer lol i remember it counted down rather slow"in fact 220 units worked out at 7mins 35 seconds in time but recently the timer stopped working so i sent it to a electrician to be repaired upon arrival the box is now working again but now the timer counts down at an incredible rate in fact 220 now shuts off the exposure machine after only 70 seconds in fact the timer only goes up to 999 then back to 0 and 999 works out at around 3mins 45 secs the thing is i don't know whether the timer is counting down correctly now or before as i don't know how many light unit/s there is per second "you see according to the company that supply our emulsion they say the Exposure time for a 90 mesh screen is about 80-90 secs and that's with the box a metre away can any one give me any information whats so ever because it would gratefully be received

  • Answer:

If things were working prior to timer repair then regardless of the light units, the time of 7 min 35 sec was the correct exposure for the situation as U worked with it. If now the timer only times to a maximum of 3min 45sec at a setting of "999" then wouldn't two exposures at this setting obtain the needed 7.5 mins ? It's a double pressing of the button but still it should work, no? Other than having the timer re-worked to its old setting I don't see anything other than making do with what U now have :>)

I would be believing the emulsion suppliers' information. I think you may have been overexposing previously. How are the screens working out with the shorter exposure time? Are they OK? I don't see the point in using time beyond the suppliers' recommendations, all that does is slow down production.
