I would say that no matter how weak the energy the magnetic field of Earth produces, still it has something to do with the so-called electromagnetic energy which we can define as the energy source required to transmit information (in the form of waves) from one place (material) to another. Sounds like a scam. We use energy from the earth's magnetic field when we use a compass. However, the earth's magnetic field is pretty weak (about half a gauss). A simple refridgerator magnet has a magnetic field roughly 100 times that of the earth's. Fortunately, it's strong enough to deflect charged particles from the sun.
