  In an electric field a positively charged particle will be drawn to the negative generator.An example is in electrostatic painting of car bodies where the metal car body is placed in a spray booth and charged to a very high voltage, then a fine mist of paint is sprayed in and the droplets acquire an induced opposite charge so that the charged drops are drawn to all parts of the charged metalwork.Another example is a cathode ray tube where the beam of electrons (negative charge) is made to bend by electrostatic and/or magnetic forces to make a picture on a screen(as in old style television sets).This effect is easily demonsrated at home by combing your own dry hair with a clean dry PLASTIC comb,;the comb becomes strongly charged and will cause small pieces of paper to jump some centimetres off the table onto the comb.Also.if you put the charged comb near you ear you will feel the electric force and her it crackle as the charges jumps to you hair.All quite safe but strange.
