What is yeast?

Yeast infections monthly until pregnant, and then no yeast, but bacterial infections instead. What's going on?

  • I get yeast infections after my period ends about half the time, which clear up easily with over-the-counter medication. This started after I got married and also seems to happen sometimes after sex. My husband and I have never had any other sexual partners. If I am careful not to have any sugar during my period and take probiotics, sometimes I can avoid an infection for that month. After I became pregnant, I was afraid I would have a yeast infection the whole time, but instead I never got any! However, I did get 3 bacterial infections. What's going on with me? It seems like my yeast infections are related mostly to my hormones, so is there any way I can prevent them? And why did I switch to bacterial infections during pregnancy? Help!

    Yeast infections are related to hormones!!! I get them atleast 5 times a year... and had 6 during my pregnancy. Bacterial ifections could be passed on to your husband then pessed back to you during sex! its however not an STD.
